A lone tree trunk emerges from a dry lake bed near Sossusvlei

Dead Vlei, Namibia - Centuries of fluctuating water tabels have enabled but then abandoned a forest in this dry lake bed. Now called the Dead vlei, or pan, it is a popular destination near the famous Sossusvlei.
